B!RDBRA!N (Epilogue)

Please join us on Thursday August 16th at 8pm for B!RDBRA!N (Epilogue). Following the Black Box and REDCAT shows, on this evening we propose a showdown… The deconstruction and the unravelling of a performance by Emily Mast in the form of a game that will involve cards, color, feathers, and a live auction. A new series of works on paper will also be on view.

 

B!RDBRA!N is a series of vignettes that form a “live collage”. In it, seven performers ranging in age from 6 to 60, explore language as a prop onto which we project meaning. Informed by the work of Guy De Cointet and very loosely based on the true story of Alex the parrot, each actor was carefully chosen for his real and performed relationship to language. 

 

The B!RDBRA!N set and rehearsals have been on view through our windows and closed doors from July 25th until now. On August 16th we invite you to come inside and join. In this epilogue, the viewer will transition from being an outsider to being a participant in an effort to clear up and perhaps create, miscommunications.

 

B!RDBRA!N (Epilogue) is performed by Aramazd Stepanian, Beau Ray, Beck Bat, Davie-Blue, Lisa Reynolds, Robert Ingraham and Talyan Wright. The sound is engineered by Jake Viator.
