Green Graffiti – Guerilla Gardening

guerilla_gardening.jpg
There's a small patch of dusty dirt on the corner of Franklin Ave. and Canyon Drive where I live in Hollywood. It sits in front of a fenced in vacant lot. Over the course of the few years that I've lived here, the little patch has gone from being completely barren, to playing host to various plants, nurtured by some unknown planter. This phenomenon is known as Guerilla Gardening. It's been going on here in L.A. for a while now, but I'm glad to see it getting some mainstream media attention. It's also cool to see how the planting gets done, in this case by creating seed bombs which are dropped from a bike and then driven into the soil with an old pair of stillettos.
